Covid-19 Support Financial Support is available for Individuals and Businesses

The NSW community is facing a particularly challenging time, and businesses and many workers are impacted. 

The NSW Government is providing support for individuals, sole traders, micro-businesses, small and medium businesses, as well as the creative services industry, and accommodation providers to help at this time. 

For businesses:

•There are different support packages available to micro-businesses, small to medium businesses, sole traders and small non-profits depending on your annual turnover. Please visit nsw.gov.au for more information or call Service NSW on 13 77 88.

•Tailored payments are also available to support businesses in the creative arts sector with the cost of running productions. Visit the Create NSW website for more information.

•Additional grants are available for accommodation providers who can demonstrate room cancellations during the school holiday period. More information is available at nsw.gov.au.

For individuals:

•For workers, the COVID-19 Disaster Payment is available for those who have lost eight hours or more of work per week because of stay-at-home orders, movement restrictions, being stood down, losing their job or having hours reduced. Visit the Services Australia website for more information. 

•There is also protection from eviction for tenants who have lost 25% or more of their income. Landlords can also claim land tax relief if they reduce the rent of lockdown impacted residential and commercial tenants.

Looking after your mental health during these challenging times is important. There is support available for individuals and businesses who need it.

We appreciate this is a difficult time for everyone. We will get through this together. 

General Manager – Resignation

General Manager, Oliver McNulty has resigned from his position at Balranald Shire Council. Oliver will depart Balranald on 26 August 2021.

Council wishes Oliver all the very best with his new position with the City of Yarra in Melbourne.

Yanga National Park – Update 26 July 2021

All Campgrounds and firewood collection areas are closed as below;

Mamanga and The Willows Camp Grounds/Picnic Areas are closed due to rain, will be reviewed on 2 August 2021.

Woolpress Bend is also closed due to flooding from high river levels.

The domestic firewood collection area is closed, this will be reviewed daily.

Road Construction Works

Road Construction Works commencing Monday 12 July 2021 for 6 weeks

Major New Covid-19 Support Package to Help Tens of Thousands of Businesses across NSW

The NSW Government has announced a major new grants package and changes to the Dine & Discover program to help tens of thousands of small businesses and people across NSW impacted by the current COVID-19 restrictions.The package includes grants of between $5,000 and $10,000 for small businesses, payroll tax deferrals for all employers, an extension of the Dine & Discover program to 31 August and the ability for people to use Dine & Discover vouchers for takeaway delivered directly to their home by the venue itself. Covid-19 Vaccination Clinics

Free Covid Vaccinations will be available in Balranald Tuesday 29 June 2021 & Wednesday 30 June 2021- for Astrazeneca Vaccination or Thursday 1st July 2021 Pfizer Vaccinations – Bookings are essential. Mungo Lodge

Mungo Lodge will remain closed until Friday 25th June (weather permitting) and Mungo Guided Tours are cancelled from Monday 21st to Friday 25th June 2021.

Expression of Interest – Royal Theatre Cafe – EOI 2021-001

Expressions of interest (EOI) are invited for the lease of the Royal Cafe area of the Theatre Royal Complex, Market Street, Balranald. The property consists of the shopfront area, kitchenette and sanitary facility. The first floor area will not form part of this EOI. This is for ground floor only.

EOI must be received by no later than 12noon on Friday 16th July 2021 and include details of the preson submitting the EOI, proposed use of the area and proposed term of lease.

The site may be inspected by appointment with Council’s Health & Building Officer, Mr R Mitchell, by contacting 03 50201300 or email rmitchell@balranald.nsw.gov.au.

To submit an Expression of interest you are required to email your submission to council@balranald.nsw.gov.au, marked attention Oliver McNulty, General Manager and include the EOI 2021/001 in the subject line.

Murray and Sunraysia Regional Algal

Several Amber alerts remain current for the Murray River and the Edward/Wakool Rivers. For the lower Darling River and Memindee Lakes there are no to very log algal counts. Algal Report – Murray and Sunraysia.

Firewood Permits area now available to residents in the Balranald and Murray River Local Government Areas as in past years. You can find out more and access the applications here
